which one is cheaper to repair? I used to have one of those 2.9 v-6's and they were decent on gas, whereas the 4.0 in the jeep might be a little worse. Mine had an oil pump problem also and that's what killed it. I say keep the jeep, but the ranger is a decent vehicle as well.

Sounds like the multi-function switch. It is your turn signal, hi/lo beam switch, and wiper switch. Take the covers off the steering column, and you may need a tamper proof torx bit to get the switch off, but not sure about that.

powder coating is about the only thing that will be a one and done solution. Paint will hold up for a while, but powder coating will last just about as long as the wheel.
