32's too heavy for the tailgate?

I had a guy make me a bumper with spare carrier. His name is Scott Anderson and he lurks over at CJ-8.com 100_0147 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Here's a pic of one like the one he made me (same bumper, someone else's pics), except he didn't put a receiver hitch on mine; I already had a bolt on...

    Fuel economy

IIRC it was a 4bt. Don't know what gears/tires etc he was running, but I would imagine you could run highway gears with bigger tires if you were powered my cummins.........

Swap in a diesel and you should get a lot better MPG. Can't remember where I saw the writeup, but the guy claimed @ 30MPG after swapping a diesel into a CJ

weber carb or motorcraft 2100 on 258

The MC is much easier to tune. I've never had any problem with my Weber running on inclines, but it isn't as easy to work on/ tune as the MC2100. The Weber will absolutely ROOOAAR when you floor it. The motorcraft is a lot better than the BBD, but it doesn't have the power that the weber has.

weber carb or motorcraft 2100 on 258

I have both (one on each Jeep). Weber has more power and is a bolt on deal. MC2100 is easier to tune and cheaper. If you want power and have the $$$ get the weber. If you just want a better carb and are $$$ concious get the MC2100.

    Thank you, GW!

You can blame that on the federal reserve. They've been running that printing press for a long time now and it isn't going to get any better. Only thing GW did was what he's done about immigration and social security.....nothing, same thing his predecessor did along with decades of presidents...

    Minutemen in Kali

I would say it's both. Ours for letting them in and hiring them (if people wouldn't hire them they wouldn't come), and theirs for breaking our laws (and in a lot of cases flaunting the fact that they are breaking our laws). Groups like the Minutemen have tried to stop them, but get nowhere...

    Minutemen in Kali

What really riles me up about this subject is..... These people overwhelm our ER here and NONE of them pay. If you are a US citizen they will do anything short of shattering your kneecaps to get you to pay before you walk out the door. If you're an illegal, you just walk out the door. A...

    Minutemen in Kali

No problem with them coming here......if they do it legally, and if they at least attempt to melt into the "melting pot" instead of silently invading our country and wanting US to change. If they want people to speak spanish, they need to stay in countries where people speak spanish. If I were...

    Made into the newspaper today

The fear most people have comes from history. The nazis first had registration, then confiscation. The aussies first had registration, then had confiscation. The brits first had registration, then had confiscation. As for mental stability, the fear is the same. WHO decided who is mentally...

On that note, we should also not allow students to own cars in case they make a "bone-headed mistake" and drive drunk and and we should spay/ neuter them so they don't get drunk and spread STD's. Taking away people's rights under the guise of protecting them is NOT a path we want to go down.

    YOUR dream rubicon

You can use a carb on a 258 (4.2L) with the head off of a 4.0 and will get a power increase. Think about how basic an old Willys is; nothing electrical but lights, gauges, and ignition. That's what I would want. Trust me, you don't want a CJ wiring harness. The grounding on CJ wiring...

    YOUR dream rubicon

Well from my experience with Jeeps, reliable isn't exactly a word I would use to describe them. Fun, tough, capable, sure, but reliable, no way. Maybe an old Land Cruiser. As for issues with "keeping them tuned" etc, remember, you're talking about going out into the middle of nowhere. Do you...

    YOUR dream rubicon

Yeah, but you nutter it (no more computer), and mc2100 it (a carb so easy my 4 year old can rebuild it AND you get rid of 90% of the vacuum lines) and it's about as simple as you can get. No sensors to go bad, no computers or electronics to go bad (except the ignition, and I've seriously...

    Our "economic stimulus" rebates

Temporary ban, but when I saw the message I thought "they must have confused me with someone else" As for the hard times a comin', Bush certainly hasn't done anything to help matters at all. NONE of the politicians have done anything but tell us "all is well" while they tax and spend and spend...

    Our "economic stimulus" rebates

I'm under a temporary ban over at jeepforum for saying something like that (in the same way you did, which wasn't in a complimentary manner). Discussion was about red light cameras and I made a statement along the lines of "It's ok, we're the govt and we know what's best for you. It's for...
