Check the filler hose for kinks or restrictions....that will make the fuel back up & shut the pump off.

Re: Things to look for Agree that rust can be a big factor....check the frame especially the rear. Another common issue is the Stop/Tail/Turn Lights...rust can cause faulty grounds which creates all kind of havoc. Overall our CJ7 sounds like a winner. Some pictures would be appreciated.

Bought a 1958 CJ5 in the early 2000s...used it as a daily driver for about 3 years, put a snow plow on it & plowed drives for friends & family. It had an odd fire V6 from a "66 or "67 & parts from various & sundry other years but the title said 1958. That thing would start in any weather every time.

I wonder how you get that on your wheel when you're in the mud deep enough to be stuck...I think I'll stick with my 8000lb Milemarker.

The snowplow has been sitting in the garage since before Christmas....1st time in recorded history that Chicago got no snow thru January & February. 50s & rain....not top down weather here yet.....

The fuel injection system & the ignition system in the "97 is different from the "93. If you use the FI & ignition from the "93 I think you wouldn't have too many other issues.

Bummer....did you have U-Haul install it or did you buy it from them & install it yourself? Have they agreed to replace the parts or are they claiming is not their fault?

You Lucky Dog! I was at the first BJHF in 2011...awesome time! From what I've heard it's grown a lot since then. Have fun & post some stories & pictures when you get home!

Jeep is set to bring back the Grand Wagoneer too...It's supposed to be a larger version of the Grand Cherokee & would most likely go head to head with the new Bronco. Should be some interesting choices in he near future......

I agree with RR....check your ground at tail light.

Good point about the box not causing drift, BUT if the wide tires are increasing lift issues or road imperfections the loose box could cause wandering by making driver correction intermittent.

The 2.5 was designed as a Fuel Injected engine....I think it would be much easier/better to use all the electronics than to try & reengineer the intake etc.

Just remember...it's all for fun. Jeep work is good work! Every hour spent on the CJ will prove to be well spent when you look back with pride of accomplishment. And a "55 no less. Can't wait for those pictures....work in progress or not!

It sounds like the half doors & the windows are aftermarket....maybe some pictures would be helpful in answering.

Ouch....time for a new tire & it looks like maybe some other parts too.

4-point Harness & full roll cage....Jeep body parts can be replaced...not so for human body parts.

Ohhh I don't know....it won't take to much torque to run it on & off of the trailer....
