    The light does not come on either.I took the Jeep to a steep grass bank and all I get is the back tires spinning.I thought right after I put it back together and engaged the 4x4 I heard it kick in, and It felt in the steering like it had but it did not last.

    Thanks for all the good info.I'm replacing the U joints today they were falling apart.Also it does appear that transmission to skid plate mount has a problem it is loose and won't tighten or loosen.Thanks again.

    No I just have lower half one piece soft doors.They are the same shape as the hard door but appear to have no way to mount a upper soft half to them unless I need some parts.

    My 89 YJ came with only the lower soft doors I looked at buying the upper soft doors but could not see anyway they fit together,is there a different upper frame to fit on soft lowers compared to the hard door lowers.

    Thanks for the reply,I have a chiltons but it did not give a list of all the numbers for the YJ models. did I read right that this motor takes 6 quarts of oil when changing with a filter replacement ?
