Steering tight in the cold...only in one direction

I don't think this is anything really to fret about but I figured I'd throw it out there anyway. 98 TJ SE...when I bought in the summer found the steering box was leaking fluid. Replaced with a re-manufactured steering box. Anywho..now its winter and fuh-reezing the past couple of weeks (of...

AEM Brute Force Intake and TBS for a 2.5l?

I agree 100% in fact, just placed my order with quadratec for a drop in K&N, Poweraid TBS and the Skyjacker 2" Suspension lift. These will be the first mods I make and I'm sure won't the last because once the jeep goes through inspection in February, on go the new wheels/tires. I have to ask...

    UPDATE: 4wd problem after lift

Yikes, I don't like the sound of that, since I'm about to purchase and install the 2" Skyjacker lift that you speak of. I've only ever heard/experienced of this torque pull or "torque steer" in front wheel drive vehicles.

    steering box ?

I'm still a n00b here but that's one of the first things I had experience with when I bought my used 98. Beachjeep is right, both are expensive. My steering box was leaking and I priced both options..just for the part, the new steering box was substantially more. I opted for the rebuilt (with a...

AEM Brute Force Intake and TBS for a 2.5l?

c'mon guys, bottom-line it for me. I have a stock 2.5l and will take ANY boost in power if only marginal. I am not going to be doing much off-roading except for the occasional trip on the beach or through the snow so I don't know if the open filter element is that big of a deal for me. Are you...

AEM Brute Force Intake and TBS for a 2.5l?

Hey BryanJeep, thanks for the advice..sounds like a good idea. There should be no problem with me using a drop-in filter with a Poweraid TBS though right? I don't think so, but it never hurts to ask.

AEM Brute Force Intake and TBS for a 2.5l?

Any idea why the AEM Brute Force Intake system comes with a TBS for the 4.0l version but not for the 2.5l version? I want to add a cold air intake system to my 2.5l TJ but I also want to add a TBS. Just trying to figure out if there is a reason why there is no TBS with that version...like is...

    Wrangler reliabilty

Why should one stay away from the 98s? I had heard about avoiding the 97s before buying... (seeing as how I bought a 98 last summer)

    Wrangler reliabilty

Back in high school I had an 89 Wrangler 6 cyl that I got with 3k miles on it (stolen/recovered) that could never pass emissions at inspection. Could never get the carburator working right. It was a huge pain in the ass..little things made me crazy, I push in the lighter and the dash shorted...

Wheels and Tires, Power and a couple other n00b questions...

Got any good suggestions for A/Ts that will work with the Cragar Streetlocks? Something relatively easy to find? I do like the BFGs and would probably consider switching wheels to use those tires.. Desertrat.com has a package with "U.S. Wheel Desert Crawlers" & BFGs...very similar to the Cragar...

Wheels and Tires, Power and a couple other n00b questions...

cherokee hybrib??? Ok, I've done some more research and now I need to re-open this thread with a few more questions. First off, thanks to Rob for his help.. Here is what I've decided to do. Add a 2" Skyjacker Spacer Lift After looking at tires, I was convinced that I wanted the MT Baja Belted...

Wheels and Tires, Power and a couple other n00b questions...

There is a custom car place by me, and the guy that works there always has his sick TJ Sport (big tires, nice wheels, lifted, winch etc) parked outside. I've just decided to go talk to this guy and see what he knows (and possibly what he can sell me) for my pitiful stock SE. I just paid for my...

Wheels and Tires, Power and a couple other n00b questions...

Ok, but the tires say "Polyester/Fiberglass Belted".. Like I said, I'm fairly clueless, however this jeep is my second car so when I say highway driving, that means probably < 5k miles a year. There is the Baja Radial MTX but its not much to look at, but anything would be better than the...

Wheels and Tires, Power and a couple other n00b questions...

ok, thanks...I just found the tire that I like and seems to come in sizes that would be appropriate for what I want to do.. The Mickey Thompson "Baja Belted" comes in 29 x 9.50 and 30 x 9.50 http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/baja_belted.html if most of my driving is on-road should I consider...

Wheels and Tires, Power and a couple other n00b questions...

ok, let me rephrase then... How about what are the biggest tires I can put on under a stock jeep WITHOUT having to worring about rubbing. 31s sound like they'd be pushing it...maybe 30s? Correct me if I'm wrong, the stock tires are probably 27s? The wheels are 15/7? I am in NJ and I believe if...

Wheels and Tires, Power and a couple other n00b questions...

Hey all, haven't been on here in a while. Picked up a nice, well maintained 98 SE with only 40k miles last May mostly for driving to/from the beach...in fact, the toughest conditions its ever going to see is the occasional snow storm and maybe a little sand at the beach. It's totally stock in...
