    Scout Axles, Narrow track CJ7

I decided to get it all measured and see how bad it is, there is an article that tells how rotating the inner knuckles can be done. I just don't know if I will get the time to do it all. I also don't think my welder will be enough to do the cast iron to put them back on. Here is a link to the...

    Scout Axles, Narrow track CJ7

OK, I have some 2deg wedges I can put in, and if I swap the shackles, I will effectively roll the axle a few more degrees back for better caster, putting me in the neighborhood of 5-6deg more than I have now, but I am not sure what my pinion is now, or what I should have when I am done, what is...

    Scout Axles, Narrow track CJ7

By shackle reversal, do you mean spring-over? I think I would have to lengthen the driveshafts if I did that, I would have to do the back, and have the spring perches cut off and moved in the back too, to get the pinion angle right, that sounds like ANOTHER 1000.00 with this shop, if not more. I...

    Scout Axles, Narrow track CJ7

I would do that if the shop would for 300, I think they might if I gave them the bare housing, off the jeep. That is a lot of work, And I am trying to move next weekend, not gonna happen right now. where is it that you live? Frank

    Scout Axles, Narrow track CJ7

It has whatever caster the axle came with, I was going to check what it was and wedge it a little to get some caster if it was 0 or less, I think it needs a steering gearbox as well. The wheel has about 20-30 deg of play in it. like I said, it was a little scary driving it home. Is a jeep really...

Sorry I didn't get to the pictures, turned into an 11 hour workday today, yesterday was busy too. I'll try to get them tomorrow, I did get the wipers put on today(big 5 minute job, woohoo!). I just hope I can get everything done before the Rubicon trip in early august, anyone know an affordable...

    Scout Axles, Narrow track CJ7

I brought it home today, It was a 20 minute drive, and a little scary, the locker makes it kick a little to the side when you hit the throttle, or let off the throttle fast. I almost changed lanes the first couple times, It seems closer to the right speed on the speedo now with the 4.10 gears, I...

    Scout Axles, Narrow track CJ7

Never got any response from you guys, I got the Scout axles, they are in the shop with the jeep now being put on, 44s front and back, cost me a pile o money though, setting up the Detroit locker, and the posi for the front, and 4.10 gears. I did put my 10 hours worth on the weekend, but I don't...

    Scout Axles, Narrow track CJ7

I would like to change out my AMC20 rear axle and Dana30 front for a 4.10 geared set of scout axles 44 and 44, or 44 rear and 30 front, If the front scout is a 30, I'll just take the carrier, out of both and use a CJ5 axle I have(Dana44, 3.73), but IF they are both Dana 44s, how do I change the...

    Dana 30 questions 78 CJ7

very helpful, thanks. Looks like that Posi is for the AMC dana 20, I'm not buying one piece axles for it, I got a 44, so I need to build the front 30 up, and get matching gears hoping for 4.10 or 4.30. thanks again, Frank

    Dana 30 questions 78 CJ7

Thanks for the reply, I think that must be for the model 20 in the back of my jeep, how much would it take to get you to ship one of those D44 carriers to CA, so i can put a locker in it? I was told that the posi carrier will not work for the locker I have access to.

    Dana 30 questions 78 CJ7

OK, so I have this Cj7 with a dana 30 in front, a dana 20 in the rear. I got a dana 44 with a posi, and 3.73 gears for the back. I can buy a Detroit Ez locker for that as well from a friend, and another locker for the 30 from a different guy. I also have an unknown diff carrier which has...

    CJ7 Axle Strength(stock20and 30)

Thanks for all the advice everyone, as it turns out, I found a Dana44 from a 74 CJ5 with a posi for 160.00(3.73-1). I can get a Detroit locker for it for 200 from a friend of mine. Is there anything else I need to do for that to make it last? I found some shorter shocks, and mounts to attach the...

    CJ7 Axle Strength(stock20and 30)

Well thanks for the advice everyone, I have talked to some guys about this situation, and have heard the same thing, (what the one piece means) I had a guy recommend doing that and a spool,.He said he never broke with 37s on his. I found a guy locally with a 44 rear, and 30 front with lockers...

    CJ7 Axle Strength(stock20and 30)

One piece axle, does that mean no diff whatsoever? I still plan on driving this on the road. I think dana 44's are eventually the way to go.Does anyone think I'll get away with it once on the rubicon, or need a tow home? lol ,If I don't upgrade I'll probably be taking the bypasses. Anyone know...

    CJ7 Axle Strength(stock20and 30)

Hello, new to the forum here. Wondering how my 78CJ7(4spd,6cyl) will do on a Rubicon trail run with the Stock 20 rear and 30 front axles, should I even bother putting lockers/true track/limited slip in these axles? I have 33 inch tires and want to do some trail runs. I hear 44s are the way to...
