2005 TJ Slips Out Of Gear

Updating the thread.. The battery cables looked good in a cursory check. The ATF was low when I checked again, it was full before so I must have a leak. I can't find the leak, so it could be blow-back and not leaving a trace. I'm going to check with a shop on the issues from here, thanks...

2005 TJ Slips Out Of Gear

Ok - I'll try that. This weekend is busy, so it may be a minute.. Thanks for your help btw. Will this inspection require disconnecting the battery? If so, will that reset the error codes I'm trying to capture?

2005 TJ Slips Out Of Gear

Well, the battery was giving me problems not long ago. The 02 sensor ODB codes existed at that time, but not the slipping out of gear codes. It was acting like it wouldn't charge. I replaced the battery. I also replaced the PCM (didn't fix, so returned it) and the alternator. Like I said, it's...

2005 TJ Slips Out Of Gear

That's a neat hack, I'll have to remember that! I see, I didn't know that. I'll have to check with them! I reset the brain somewhat recently, so the check engine light isn't lit. I'm assuming I'd need to drive it a bit to regenerate the codes before I take it in?

2005 TJ Slips Out Of Gear

While looking for a TSB on P0871 as the article you mentioned suggested, I found this info about checking the wiring starting with the transmission fuses and relays (at the bottom of this post). P0871 Error Code | Jeep Wrangler TJ Forum What I mean by "look good" is that fuses weren't busted and...

2005 TJ Slips Out Of Gear

The battery has been replaced with the error present before and after. A shop did the fluid and filter change. I checked it using the correct procedure then, and I'm going to check it tomorrow too. I've read several posts of people slightly overfilling their ATF, so I was thinking of adding...

2005 TJ Slips Out Of Gear

My '05 TJ started slipping out of gear. It's an automatic. She has 130,000 miles. She's going through a wear cycle and has many codes: ----- P0871 - Overdrive hydraulic pressure switch circuit. P2096 - Downstream post catalyst fuel trim system 1 lean. (TSB?) P2098 - Downstream post catalyst...

Errors P2096 P2098 On 05 TJ Caused By PCM

Well - there's some issues with 05-06 PCMs, I don't think they can be rebuilt. I did order one from a different place, I'm going to wait till I find out how it works before I mention where I got it at.

Errors P2096 P2098 On 05 TJ Caused By PCM

Yup... I've got that same text written on an old sheet of paper out in the garage - it's what I follow to do the reset. (I keep directions for things I do somewhat often on paper out there - like an oil change etc..) I doubt Jeep is going to do anything - they left the TJ PCM thing in the...

Errors P2096 P2098 On 05 TJ Caused By PCM

The Answers To Your Questions I've ran injector cleaner, and the fuel pump's been replaced (so the tank's been drained and cleaned). I've worked with a great exhaust shop to find an exhaust leak - there is none. I've replaced the O2 sensors with OEM, and had a dealership confirm they were...

Errors P2096 P2098 On 05 TJ Caused By PCM

I have error codes P2096 and P2098, one for each downstream O2 sensor. It's causing the Jeep to run rich. I replaced the O2 sensors with NTK, and a dealership confirmed they were working fine (but I still had the MIL). Then I found a TSB for my Jeep that says errors 2096 and 2098 will show...

    00 Cherokee hesitation

Just curious if it could be a miss. When's the last time the plugs were changed? Also, plug wires have around 100,000 mile life span (typically). You could pull the plugs to inspect. Also check the gap. If the plugs are burnt, corroded or grey looking then they should be changed. If it's only...

Oh no my interior lights won't shut off, someone Please help!!

Hey there! As a quick temporary fix - unplug the fuse. There should be a bank of fuses behind the glove box or under the dash. It'll give the location in the owner's manual if you can't find it. Near the fuses you'll see a diagram showing what each fuse is for. Unplug the one for the interior...

    500 Error On Resgistration Page

Ahh yes, that's the right strategy. I believe it's mysqli_ with ($connection, statement) now. You aren't using mariadb? That should be what's in the repos nowadays. PHP is my favorite language to write in..been thinking about writing a forum 'cause I get so frustrated with the ones out there...

    500 Error On Resgistration Page

No problem! Dang! 25 gigs - that's crazy!! Just curious, do you mean it was it a single file? (logrotate should split them out by day, but it may not be running in cron) If it was the directory that filled up, I could write something in bash to run once a week, check the dir size, and if...

Limp Mode! OD Pressure Switch Rationality Fault - Need Help

Tested battery and alternator - the alternator may be week, averages between 13.8 and 14.2 with everything on... Could that be related? That shouldn't make the speedometer act crazy should it? I honestly don't know. Battery comes in at 12.6. Oddly it came up as 60% after 2 days sitting, which...

We have an '05 Wranger X, automatic (42RLE). I started having strange issues that finally came to a head.. The MILF light came on, then my speedometer went wonky, then gas mileage dropped, then she stayed stuck in 1st gear (limp mode). This doesn't have to do with the shifter linkage (fixed...
