    Adding power sterering to '82CJ5

So you think I should look for a '82-'86 CJ power steering set-up and find a way to mount the pump to the motor? Or, do you think I will have to use a Chevy pump/bracket and CJ steering box/Arm, then just hose them together? I know the guys at my local Checker store and they would probably pull...

    Adding power sterering to '82CJ5

PO had replaced the 151ci 4 with a '80's Chevy 3.8 V6. Engine is awesome, strong, reliable and smooth, but it may make for some compatibility issues. Wouldn't a junkyard have a pump and bracket for the motor? Then run lines to a CJ ps steering box?

    Adding power sterering to '82CJ5

My CJ does not have power steering and I am thinking about adding it. It seems like a fairly simple system, but I have not had any experience with it before. If anyone has done this before, what am I looking at for parts and is it worth it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mike

Motor Mounts bad, engine slid back

You should look at the transfer case/transmission mount too, if the transfer case mount let the unit slide back it might need to be replaced as well. Also, if you don't have a "cherry picker" engine lift, I have done the same thing with a big floor jack and chunk of 2x6 to lift the engine. And...

'82 CJ5 body shot, need help deciding what to put on.

I ordered an Kevlar body from Shell Valley in Nebraska. They seem to stand behind their stuff and I got the impression they make the best. The grill and dashboard will still be steel, and I can ground them to the frame easy enough. I supose anything else with a wire will need to be grounded...

How to remove the heater control knobs without destroying them

Well that make a ton of sense. Thanks for the info. I'm normally good at figuring out the engineering, but this just sliped past me. Funny how something so simple could give you fits like this. I'm glad you to have access to you guys who have done this before. Thanks a bunch. Mike

How to remove the heater control knobs without destroying them

Ok, I got one off by twisting, rolling and pulling. The cable has ridges and the knob is tough, but the glue inside is what is holding these things together like this. Whatever it is, it's tough glue. I think I will be able to get the others off, but I will have to find something to grab the...

How to remove the heater control knobs without destroying them

I am dismantling my rusty, but trusty 82 CJ5 for a new frame and Kevlar body.(Oh yeah!) On the dashboard, all is coming off ok except the knobs for the temp, defrost and heat controls. I am pulling these like a truck, but they are not budging. Anyone know of a good trick to remove these...

'82 CJ5 body shot, need help deciding what to put on.

The front end of the frame looks solid and a spot in the middle looks questionable, but the rear of the frame by where the rear shackles attach are flaking through and crumbling. I think the frame needs to be replaced. I'm starting to think maybe I should just buy another solid jeep and work to...

'82 CJ5 body shot, need help deciding what to put on.

Hello, I'm new to this forum, but am the proud owner of a 82 CJ5 and I live in Minnesota where they use salt on the roads in winter......Yeah, tell me about it. Ok, so with seats falling through the floor, chunks of body and frame flaking off and funny noises over every bump, me and my daughter...
