ok here an update. i put a pressure gaudge on each piston..1,2,4 are 165-170....#3 is around 130 and is the one firing into the intake...i still havent check the valve timing...i need to get the tool you mentioned...i found that the crank shaft sensor had a missing bolt and was out of...

o to add to that im getting fire popin out of the in take...it starts and ides really rough...can you do me a favor and set yours to d center and tell me where your rotor is pointed...to see if its pointed at one on the distributor

i havent checked the vacuum lines yet ill take a look at that...no this thing is a real nightmare..i tore it down to check the timing chain timing is all good...im looking at the map o2 and crank shaft sensor...and now the vacuum lines...lol

Hey all, Ihave a 88 yj 2.5 tbi...i check the timing chain and set the distributor its pointed at 1...im still getting fire in the tbi....it wants to idle but then it pops every so often threw the tbi...and suggestions?

but doesnt that point the rotor in between the 1 and 3 on the distrubitor?...i was always told the rotor should point at the one...and on the dampner should it be at 0 when at tdc?

Hey all, i have a 88 yj i got from a friend. the motor has recently been rebuilt. When i got the jeep it would start cold just fine. but when it got up to operating temp if i didnt stay on the gas at stop lights it would die. to restart it i would have to pour a little gas in the throttle...

try checking the coolant temp sensor

88 yj 2.5l tbi im installing a new distributor. im using the chilton book...the books says when im at top dead on the crank thant when its properly the rotor should be pointd at 6 o clock if the side of the block is 12...but in that potion the rotor is between the #1 and #3 on the rotor...

Hey, I have an 88 and has similar problems...starts great cold but when comming up to lights i have to stay on the peddle or it dies...and it wont start if its warm..i have to pour gas down the tbi...i spoke with a jeep mechanic today and he told me to replace the coolant sensor...i guess when...

Thanx for the responces, I believe i have the distributor in some what correctly. but I'm concerned with the chilton instruction...my jeep has the 2.5l 4 now when i set the crank to top dead center it should be at zero on the marks..correct...and the rotor should be pointing at the #1 post on...
