I found the problem. It is a leaking intake gasket. I am going to replace tomorrow.

I have an 86 cj7 with 4.2 inline 6. California model ( Lots of vac. lines) I just started getting a very loud squealing sound . only when idling or low rpm. Goes away when driving. Any ideas?

I have an 86 CJ7 . It is virtually the same. I had the exact problem. A vac. line was laying near the exhaust and got brittle and broke. It is well worth replacing all vac lines. when they get old and brittle they break EASY.

I am looking for the upper bearing for the steering column for My CJ7 It is nontilt, floor shift.I pulled the parts out until I saw the bearing. How do You replace it? Where can I find a new one?

My 86 CJ7 seems to run hot. If I leave the radiator cap off and start it , should I see flow in the radiator. Is there a diagram to show direction of flow in the cooling system? Which way does a thermostat go into the housing?

My fuel gauge quit workin. I replaced the sending unit and now it works. It is very innacurate, at empty it reads a little under half and when full it reads way over full. Bill Grinder 86 CJ7:???:

I would take it to an automotive airconditioning place ( a lot of gas stations ) have them recover the refrigerant , then remove the hard line that is screwed into the fitting andcut it and have it brazed closed( do it 3-4 inches from the fitting), then reinstall it to the fittings to...
