bikini top

I am looking to get a bikini top for a 2006 TJ and I am trying to figure out if I need the windshield channel or not, I've been told that if I have a factory soft top I don't need one with certain bikini tops. Does anyone have any information on bikini tops and if a windshield channel is needed...
