I'm about to purchase a Motorcraft 2150 and need to know which one to get. I don't want one that's too small. And I also want one with and electric choke. What do ya'll think?? Also what all would I need to make it work right?

i used the 1.08 and it worked good. all that i have read says that the 1.08 is the one that you want to get, although tug used the 1.21 and said that i worked fine for him. you will need a mr.gasket adapter part number 1937 in order for that carb to fit, also called large 2bbl to small 2bbl. i would also go with an electric choke, and i can tell you that the 1975 jeep wagoneer with a 360 does not have an electric choke. that carb ran me 129.99 at autozone, and i think that you could buy an electric choke to go on it. i have also read that you can use the choke off of your carter, but i cant confirm that. you will also need an air cleaner no larger than 10", 9" is perfect. keep us posted, a few of us here have been through this and we can help.

Like I said before I ordered a 1.08 and got a 1.21. Give in and give it a try and it worked just great. The 258 set up the way mine was used all the cfm's in the 1.21 just fine. 1.08 was my first choice just not what they shpped and I used. tug

Jeepster,

I am also in Raleigh, and I am looking for a 1.21 2150 for my YJ. Where are you getting your's? I am fairly new to the area and need some help.

Thanks,
Todd

To calculate the required CFM flow of an engine

Engine size(cid) * Maximum operating RPM / 3456 = CFM required

258 * 6000 / 3456 = 447.92 CFM

That equation assumes a 100% volumetric efficiency. The only vehicles that even approach that level of efficiency are HIGHLY modified race engines, and even then it's hard to make an inline six that efficient. In the real world a stock 258 requires about 280 cfm at 4500 rpm, which is about as far as you need to turn a factory 258. The 1.08 2100/2150 is about 290 CFM. The 1.21 is a good choice, but it may need to be jetted down and have the accelerator shot adjusted if it came off of one of the more healthy V8s and you are putting it on a completely factory 258.

all of us raleigh jeepers need to get together and go wheelin one of these days :)
i want to do the motorcraft switch also, carter is driving(or should i say stalling) me up a wall lol
does the switch eliminate some of the multitude of vacuum lines?

Jeepster,

I can not get intouch with your guy. E-mail gets kicked backed. Any other contact info? What did you end up with?
