The dealer is stumped and does not have manuals that go back to '89. No vacuum leaks and replaced the idle air control motor.

Any ideas/advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

check your timing may be it jumped a tooth or two
adjust throttle set screw these are just ideas since i cant see what its doing

the way engines work is they want to run full bore, and you control it by starving it for air and gas ("throttle" means grab it by the neck and squeeze it until the eyes bug out). if everything is working as it should, you can starve it down to a whimper. if you don't have that level of control, then something isn't under control.

it sure sounds like you are getting bootleg air sneaking in somewhere. it could be a timing advanced, but even that would be under control by cutting off the air.

most likely the suggestions already offered on the other thread are your answer.

might want to find another dealer, cause that one you used is either lame or blowing you off.

I had that trouble on my CJ it was a leak in the intake manifold. Easy way to see if you are getting "other" air on a carb type is to take the breather and filter off, start it, then cup your hand over the top of the carb. If it idles way high you have a leak some where. If it stays the same or trys to die out may need to do a Rebuild on the carb just a little dirt in the bowl can mess things up.
