Whats everyones advice and help on doing a 4.0 swap out of a 99 xj into my 93 wrangler 2.5? The whole nine yards transmission transfer case and all. I need some input and the things i need to do. Thanks
Not worth the trouble to just have another 6cyl Jeep with a hacked up install. Nothing about the 4.0L being a jeep engine makes the swap any easier than any other engine, like a GM v8. You still need to cut the motor mount perches from the frame and relocate them, so might as well install a better powerplant.
You need a 6 cyl YJ to get the mounts, etc from. The wiring harness and computer needs to be '91 to '95 4.0 (YJ, but XJ is the next simplest) '99 is a PITA to rewire.
There was a thread in 4bangerjp.com about this... A fellow member there did the swap, and it turned out not so expensive (cheaper than any other swap) and easier than swaping all his mods to a new Jeep.
