alternator output?

Is there any way to check the amp output(not voltage) on an alternator with a multimeter?

Most multimeter's do not have the capacity to check the Amps, the quickest and easiest way it to take it down to your local auto-zone and they will be able to tell you if shes not throwing enough AMPS out.
