AM Radio

I bought an original AM radio for my '72 Commando, but the dash was cut for a DIN unit. Does anyone know where I can find a pre-made piece I can use to put the original radio in that looks somewhat decent?

I know the original fit right in the sheet metal, so that isn't going to happen.

I don't have any way to make one myself that will look very good.

moved your post to the appropriate tech section.

to answer your question, if it were me, I would find an old vehicle in a JY or perhaps a rusted old CJ dash that is not cut up, cut out what you need and weld it into your commando's dash.

That's a little extreme for me at this point. I was more or less looking for a bezel that would fit the radio and fit in a DIN hole and look fairly stock, maybe a chrome surround. I don't know if the Jeep radio is standard size, so the kits that are available might work if it is. I was hoping someone who may have restored a Commando previously might know, that's why I originally posted it where a restorer might see it.
