Have 95 Wrangler YJ 4Cyl Automatic Transmission. Transmission gave out 2 years ago and had it rebuilt at AAMCO with 3 year warranty. Rebuilt again at start of this year. On its way back for a third time now. Warranty runs out May 03. Are these transmissions just no good or am I just getting lousy work. Just sand and some mud here in South Texas. Should I take it somewhere else NEXT TIME or put in something else. Appreciate any suggestions. [addsig]

if said sand and mud are entering the trans, those are your killers....

but with a 4 and an auto, are you flooring it everywhere, just to keep up?

I think all AAMCO's are independently owned.[addsig]

The wife has had three Jeeps with the auto trans all the way back to the early eighties. Have never had any problem with any of them. She occasionally off roads and muds. Jeep doesn´t make there own transmission as far as I know. I´ve seen a few Fords in there, alot of Dodges, and have heard rumors of Chevies. Jeep has them built with there bolt patern. I´ve had some experieince with rebuilt Chevy´s after driving the rebuild for a few thousand miles. it´s amazing how much crude is in there, when changing the filter. I´ve gotten so I change the filter every thousand miles, for the first few thousand, after a rebuild or until the last oil change and filter come out clean. They say the first thing to check is the kick down cable adjustment after premature transmission failure, this also controls pump pressure and will fry a set of clutches in short order if adjusted wrong.[addsig]
