Axle differences

Shape of the axle is a way to tell. The Dana 35 is more Egg shaped than any other axle. The GM 10 Bolt is Round. Not sure it that helps you or not but I gave it a shot. haha

Assming your talking strickly trucks...

Biggest difference is 10 bolt is way wider than the other

10 bolt is a 5 on 5 lug or 6 lug

10 bolt could be rear or front steering axle

D35 is a 5 on 4.5 lug unless it has coil buckets then it could be 5 on 5 lug

D35 is rear axle only

All 10 bolts ever made will have leaf spring perches factory unless it is a 2wd chevy rear, then again, it will be a lot wider.

some 10 bolts were found in passenger cars, all of these will be a 5 on 4.75 bolt pattern, most with leaf perches, some with coil buckets.
