Axle donar for cj5

I have seen and heard of people getting wider and stronger front and rear axles from donar vehicles,,, which donar vehicles have the least amount of "conversion" and work the best for a 82 cj5???? Some have said with a dana 44 you have to use TJ springs????

Power steering conversion

I would just put in the Superior axle shafts. Then if you are worried truss the amc 20. With the axle shafts it is supposedly as strong as a dana 44, but the tubes are a little weeker. That is why you truss it. I don't think you would have a problem unless you are running tires bigger than 35's or a larger V8.

Dana 20 to AtlasII...PICS

There is no drop in conversion that will be any stronger. The TJ rumor is stupid... somebody doesn't have a clue.
Just get the shaft kits like mentioned above. They even have a deal where you can get a locker and all in one kit.

The AMC 20 isn't that bad of an axle. The 29 splines that are on the nicer one-piece axle kits are stronger than the factory 30 spline shafts you'll find in a D44. There is no easy front swap so if ease of installation is the goal, I'd get a set of the 82-86 widetrack CJ7 or CJ8 axles. Then beef the front D30 with some big joint alloy shafts and set the rear AMC M20 up with some Moser shafts and a full length welded truss. Bolt in, and it will be both wider and stronger.
