bad leafs?

No, they should be flat or have a slight arch.
althought its a pretty common issue with xjs the rear springs are kinda soft and wear out fast when they are stock.. if you want to level the jeep out (im assumning it is sitting lower in the back) you could get new stock springs or buy an add-a-leaf to put in your stock pack and add some arch back into them

If you go the add a leaf route, a full length add a leaf (home made or maybe RE) works better.
A new set of leafs isn't all that expensive, though getting the old end bolts (especially the fronts) out can be a giant pain. U-bolts and center pins are fairly easy (and cheap) to replace, cut the old ones off and install the new.
