Need to buy a new battery. Whats a suitable cold crank power for a 4.0? It's a 1995 YJ, auto. This is the original battery that came with the Jeep when I bought it 3 years ago, Past couple of weeks it got into the 20's around here and I didn't get a chance to start it. Had to jump start it. Now the battery seems weak. thanks,

Having spent some time in cold climates, let me chime in with some recommendations ...

1 - Don't toss the battery yet as it will need to be charged fully before it's true condition is known. If it needs replacing, then ...

2 - Measure the battery tray (lxw) and height to hood (h) then get the battery with the largest cca that will fit in the space. Remember to take into account the battery terminal layout. This will also give you the greatest reserve capacity for winches, lights, etc.

3 - 2 weeks at 20* is rough on the best of batteries. Remove the battery and put into the garage, at least. If your wife, mom or room-mate will let you then bring it into the house.

4 - If this weather is a regular occurance you may want to look into block, pan and transmission heaters.
