RE: Re: RE: Stupid ground hog

This is the carnage that occured on the highway after my last wheeling trip. It wouldnt be that big of a deal except i dont know if its a NP231 or a NP205. Does anyone know? It's a 1999 TJ, 4.0 straight 6 automatic.

Ouch. Yeah definately an NP231, but for future reference it should be stamped on that metal tag in the pics.

Crazy glue ?

JB Weld maybe?
Not to joke, and too be honest.. that stuff probably could do it.. I was out on a trail not too long ago, there was a np242, theback half of the 242 looked like that, but with JB weld holding it together.

RE: Colorado Trail suggestions

I bet next time you will take a few minutes to pull the front driveshaft out. If you get the slip yoke eliminator in the rear of your new case you would be able to remove a bent rear. That sucks nevertheless.

Dont buy gas on september 3rd!

I had a buddy with an F150 4x4 with 6" of lift and 38's that kept throwing rear u-joints. He took out the rear and drove around for almost a month on the front shaft (auto transmission, too). He was working up north and was driving 120 miles round-trip every day at 70-75mph. The front shaft finally let go, broke pretty much everything it could come in contact with (including his foot). Took out the oil pan, cracked the block, broke a big chunk out of the t-case (bigger than yours), knocked a hole in the transmission housing, took out the brake lines front and rear, beat a hole through the floorboard and took out the brake and accelerator pedals (that's when it broke his foot), broke the shock and mount, and the shrapnel from one of the above took out both rear tires and put a hole in the gas tank. He was an idiot, can't believe I actually called him a friend at one point. He ended up ripping me off one night while I was at work and I haven't spoken to him since (though a couple of friends beat the money back out of him for me). He's currently serving time for meth distribution.

nice friends... my old jeep "grenaded" a rear yoke... crazy how much noise a little driveshaft can make hitting a floorboard and muffler! - pulled the 4nuts holding the shaft, what was left of the yoke and drove it home on the front.... 4wd is a BEAUTIFUL thing... but Kudo's for the job shown above... if youre gonna trash a xfer case... do it right!!! (yikes!)

JB Weld got one of my club members home from Paragon after he tore a hole in his oil pan. It leaked but it got him home to MD.

Man that information could be dangerous in the wrong hands

JB Weld wouldn't even hold that together long enough to put it in gear and let out on the clutch.

Transfer case removal

with the right friends and tools.. it would only take about 3 hours on a dark night to swap that with some rich, PJ driving college kid.

whats wrong with college kids? I happen to be in college, and a lot of people consider me well off becasue i have 2 cars, my jeep and a 73 nova with a 454. Whats wrong with this?
