Black Smoke + Bad Milage = Upset Mike

Stock shocks with a lift?

I think I posted on this earlier, but I cannot seem to locate it...nevertheless...

Whenever I start up my 87 YJ (I-6), I get a ton of black smoke out of the tailpipe...managing to make my driveway all spotted with soot. My gas milage is suffering, where I am getting less than 10 MPG in the city, and with prices still on the rise, I want to figure this out. She is running rough, and it is starting to bother me. Any help would be appreciated!!!!! Thanks!

Obviously running rich. Since it is an 87 I am guessing it is carbed. May try adjusting mixture but it is only a temp. fix. Most likely need to clean and rebuild.

Automatic Lockers

Well I just put in a remfd carter about 2 months ago...any tips for how to adjust it?

You need to knock off the tabs that cover the adjustment screws on the carter carb. You're better off swapping in a Motorcraft 2150 for a good running carb.
