i have several body mounts on my yj that are rotting out and falling apart would a mild body lift fix this or can i get some spacers machined (friend is a machinest ) and if so will i need a bushing or a rubber between the washer and the bottom of the body mount (frame side)

A BL wouldn't be a bad idea . Daystar make a real nice one that completely replaces the factory mounts while also incorporating a lift . It's urethene and comes in either red or black . I would go with a 1" to 1.25" max BL .

Should you get spacers machined, you would still need OEM body mounts. I also recommend a 1" or 1.25" body lift that replaces the stock mount, if you need the extra tire clearance. If you don't need the height, don't raise the center of gravity unnecessarily, go with OEM replacements.
