Have new brakes on 95 YJ, about 6 months old. Today when I went to stop it feels like the back brakes are locking up. I can stop if I brake REAL lightly. If I press any harder on the brake I hear like a clunk and I skid . Can someone please tell me what this is ? Thanks, Adrienne

sounds to me like either the rear brakes are way too tight *or* the ront are not working at all.. have you tried jacking it up and checking the condition of your brakes, and testing each wheel to see if they are grabbing? also, do yo uhae anti-lock brakes? if so the anti-lock system could be malfunctioning.

as an after-thought, i would pull the wheels and inspect the brakes.. you might have some debris in there that is getting in the way

No anti lock, everything looked ok. Had someone else drive and watched them hit the brakes, passenger side stops before the drivers side. (Watched from the back).

Make sure the self-adjusters in the bottom of the drum assembly are the same on both sides, tighten until the drum drags, then back it off slightly.
