Changing Shocks On A TJ?

I'm installing a 4 inch lift on my '99 TJ and have the front all done except for the shocks. How do you tighten down the top shock mount without turning the shock boot and piston at the same time? On the factory shock it had that big metal sleeve covering the piston and I could grab ahold of that to loosen. But the new shock just has the piston exposed with the shock boot covering. Help me out. Thanks.

there should b a flat spot on the part where u thread the nut into for the front shocks get a small wrench on there to hold it and turn the regular nut with another wrench
