Hey Roddy.....Long time! As Utah Jeeper stated, during the setup it's more about the rotational force rather than static torque. Unfortunately, if you have already tightened down the pinion nut to 200 lbs., you’ll need to replace the crush sleeve (collapsible spacer) and for the sole propose of safety, replace the pinion nut as well. If possible, don’t remove the pinion (or loosen it) from its current seat.
You’re going to need an Inch Pound beam style torque wrench. I will tell you that torquing down the pinion nut it will be difficult to start with and you will suddenly hit 12-15 inch Lbs. Just go a little tightening at a time and re-check your rotational force measurement. I did a write up on rebuild the D30 in the how to section and I briefly touched base on this.
