Dana 44 tag

:???: Can anyone tell me what all this tag is telling me ? It is on the left side of the cover on my Jeeps rear end. 52099494 AB LS

There is another tab that says to use limited slip lube. I want to get a locker for it and want to get the right one. It's a 97 TJ. Also, need to know the number of axle splines ? Thanks for any help,

its got 3.55 gears is the only part i recognize. well, and the ls is limited slip

your stock Dana 44 has 30 spline axle shafts.

d44 wasn't available in the '97 TJ if memory serves. Should be a d35 if original.

Doubt it, the d44 didn't appear until the '98 Sahara.

Some late production model 97 TJ's got the D44 rear and were only available in the sahara.

I bought it used, so I don't know the history on it, but since my original post I have got a positive ID on it. It is a 44 w/limited slip. Thanks to all !!

Having 3:55 gears I would think it's a D35. I always thought the older 44s came with 4:10.
