RE: broken tap

Hi,

87 YJ ( still having elec. issues, but I think I found it...) While I am in wire tracing mode I thought Id ask....

I have been driving for over 2 years without any vacuum hoses (except timing adv, brakes) or vacuum solinoids, map sensors, hg sensors O2, cat pipes, pulse air.... I have a weber, I did the nutter bypass a long time ago, have Ford TFI ignition, THe only wires in my egine area really are the choke wire, manifold htr, $wd light, ignition stuff, etc. I have traced everything I could to the computer, they hang under my dash. But I have not pulled the plug on it. Im worried I might need it if for anything - to maintain a few closed ciruits for guages or starting. Id like to pull it out and toss it. It never did anything before the bypass with the old BBD anyway. I dont have emissions sniffers here for my year of make, its all just inspecuin, I pass every year so Im not worried about that.

So, Knowing this, can I yank out that piece or what?!

I would love to see the answer to this. I would like to do the same.

Re: RE: the wave

And the answer is...

NO, it works with out it, provided you have a similar set up.

I unplugged it, started it and it ran and drove no differently. Everything works, except my heater fan, which i think is because I cut the wire assumming it was part of the bundle that went to the MCU from the firewall just above the gas pedal. Im pretty sure it was actually, theres 3 wires (org & blk, blk, and org) that were attached to a plug taht came out with the bundle when I yanked from the drivers side, after snipping all the wires at the plug to MCU end under the glovebox.

oh well, I ll just track the other ends of them down and solder em back... Its summer anyway.

Besides Im tossing the tub this summer as well as the frame...

Frames shot and so is my floor. Got a deal around here... 92 YJ tub no rust, frame no rust, and a pair of dana 44s for $1300!!!

Not bad hunh!
