Well I have been looking for a roof rack for a while now to mount the spare and the hi lift. Last week, I needed the cargo area to haul some junk for a buddy and strapped the spare to the stock roof rack. It made a significant difference in the center of gravity on my XJ, and I think it is safe to say I'll be looking to go a different route for the tire mount. Maybe it was worse because of the steel wheel, but I was really surprised the difference it made. Kind of surprises me that the roof mount is so popular :?

I'm thinking I'll put 4 footman loops in the cargo area and using straps (can't afford a bumper/tire carrier).

I gotta do something, 'cause it's just sitting back there now and I'm afraid if I get in a wreck that baby will take my head off

You know thats Directed at you. Your not that far away. When you gonna show me how to wheel ?
Sure hope my Stock POS can keep up too your highly modified Trail Rig.

RE: Spare on the roof made for some excessive roll

Maybe fill your spare with helium ?

Yeah, seemed obvious since I am the only one in the 3000 post range. So instead of playing little school girl games, why don't you man up and come right out and speak what's on your mind?

You seem to have a real problem with me don't ya?

RE: Re: Diff & Locker advice

No, Just like to push your buttons. All in hopes of wheeling with ya sometime buddy.

You do leave yourself open alot. Your asking a question about weight, and the effects on handling.
This would pose a problem for a avid offroader, Not a grocery getter.

All it comes down to is number of post -vs- actual offroading time.
Everyone has there right to opinions, But sometimes I question the grounds they base a reply to.
Again its just Theory.
If someone says "I have been doing it this way for 28 years " - worthy-
Or " I think that will work" -not worthy-
IMO- thats a waste of a post and could cause a serious Injury or worse.

Offroading is a fun hobby, But its a DANGEROUS hobby.

Hey, I just wanna see you out more- Thats all. If you can't, you can't- If you can, Ride with us.

Really. So what exactly have I said that could endanger someone? Have I seriously given any mis-information that I am unaware of? If so, pointing that out instead of implying that I am a menace to the offroading hobby would be far more appropriate. I hope that your opinion/problem with me is not more of a result of topics in the gen chat forum than elsewhere. If that is the case, keep in mind it is a gen chat forum, and many opinions float around there. Although I know mine are not the most common, they are mine and I will voice them.

Your offroading -vs- post count theory is just plain silly. As far as I am concerned, someone with no offroad experience and a mere desire to own a Jeep has as much a right to post as anyone else. Sure, I am on Jeeps every day (just about), but I work 60+ hours a week, sometimes 7 days and holidays. I have 4 kids and a wife. Time that I do get to go wheeling is precious time. Trips up to Paragon are nearly impossible. Yes dear, I am taking the first full weekend off in two months to go wheelin' in Pa, you and the kids go camping without me - see ya Sunday night! That would be tough to justify. There are a few good spots around here, and I go when I can, but they are 30 minutes away and much easier for me to get away with. I could post more pics if it would make you happier. As for the post count, I could care less about it, but I can log on and off as I have free time and I enjoy it - and it only takes a few minutes!!! I hate to break it to you, I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing.

As I said, if you have an example of me giving dangerous advice, then please let me know - but a PM probably would have been a more mature way to do it than changing you Sig every other day with a new potshot.

If you don't, then what is the real reason you've singled me out?

And there arethree things wrong with that statement.
1. It was not a question, it was more of a comment.
2. It would be an issue for any vehicle.
3. My XJ is no grocery getter

You can follow along here
I even went on to say how dangerous it is to use PVC even being SCH40.
You seem to have no problem with it.

Just what I want, I highlift doing about 75mgh mounted to Plastic.
This thing would be a spear. Ever see what a tire/rim can do at 75mph, It can easily go through several concrete walls.
-Even if i was wrong, I still get my point across.

Now does that post you mentioned about the PVC warrant all this and dedicating me to you sig? I mean, it is flattering and all that you spend so much time thinking of me, but you're kind of freaking me out man - you're not going to boil my bunny rabbit or anything are you?

RE: Another cooling question.

Hey look another post! oops, did it again

guess you better update your sig

got pics? Hadn't thought of PVC, but that stuff is pretty strong. Hmmmm...
Sounds like bad advice to me.
Iam about done for tonight. But I think you still have my address if you feel the need.

Nothing personal, I already said I would like to wheel with ya.
Maybe I could learn a thing or two.
Maybe not

Just tip back a cold one for me, PEACE !

You're grasping at straws Dude. Done for tonight? So, you're going to do an in-depth search? I figured with all the hub-bub that you had some significant reason for calling me out. I guess I was right from the get-go when I assumed that it is just a personal thing. Your little quip about the address only proves my point. Search all you want take your time, start a thread. Enjoy yourself. I am not only done tonight, but I'm done proving you to be an adolescent - well, actually, you did that all by yourself didn't you... and as far as your address, no thanks. I grew out of that years ago. Nothing personal
