Door switch for dome light not working.

'95 YJ. Both the wires are hooked up to the leads on the switch but the dome light still will not come on. I am thinking the previous owner changed something in the wiring that made it stop working. The dome light DOES come on with you use the dome/dimmer switch next to the headlight switch.

Any ideas? Do the door switches die often, and if so where can I get another one?

Check all the fuses first. I'm not for sure if it's got it's own fused circuit or a shared circuit with another component. Disconnect the wire connector from one of the switches then use a short wire to jump it, if there's still no dome lamp, use a voltmeter and trace the signal wire to the dimmmer switch module and verify it for 12volts. if there's none, trace that circuit to a known good 12v supply and jump the circuit and see if the dome lights up. if it does, the problem could be the dimmmer module itself. Make sure that the bulbs are properly seated in the socket and free of corrosion.

Will do. I know the fuse and the bulbs are good because the dome light and the interior courtesy lights under the dash will all come on if you flip the dimmer switch. The problem has got to be in that door switch somewhere... If I had to rewire it, how would I do that so that the lights would come on when the door is open even when dimmer switch is off?
