Engine work

[PS89YJ]

I'm going through my 89YJ and looking for input. Here is what I'm thinking, what would you do, what brands would you use, where would you go for the parts and have I missed anything? 4.2 long block with Howell fuel injection, headers/new exhaust. I'm in California and need to keep it smog legal.
