Exhaust noise????

I have a 98 wrangler and I hear this exhaust noise but not sure if it really is exhaust. Under load it sounds like exhaust is ticking like there is a leak but I see no signs of carbon or leaks? Anybody have same issue???? Everybody keeps telling me that it's a jeep sound but I don't agree.

Sounds like an exhaust leak. If you have the stock cast manifold then it's most likely cracked. Very common problem.

Not sure what you have under the hood, 2.5 or 4.0 but most likely the exhaust manifold is the problem. They will crack and crack again and again as I’ve even had the “new and improved” aftermarket manifolds crack; some of the real headers will hold up better. Replacing the manifold isn’t that hard a job but if this is your first time doing the swap allow the afternoon to get it done. I picked up a direct replacement 4.0 manifold off ebay for about $80 with free shipping just a few weeks ago.
