Fiberglass leaf springs? What?

Anybody see this kit from Teraflex? It used fiberglass monolinear springs, with some protective coating. The light weight and flex would be nice, but what if you ram a rock? Think they would hold up?

It's just plain wierd:

that and fiberglass is pretty sensitive to light and solvents. Though they probably flex pretty awesome.

I dunno about having fiberglass under my jeep, but hey i might be wrong, let somebody try them out and tell us about it!

It's supposed to have a thick layer of some kind of resin or something on it. Looks cool, but there's no way I would want to be the guinnea pig for that one.

dont know if i'd trust glass under my jeep... bow and arrows? okay... (splintered one of them b/4) but you dont drive a bow down the highway or over rocks... i'll wait to see....

Even with a coating, I really don't see how they could hold up to being smashed into rocks. I mean, even regular metal leaf springs can bend and break if they're used hard.

It's cool they're trying something different though. It will be interresting to see how they hold up.

If they want to send me a free set to try out, I'll do a review

There ya go. I don't think you would have driven off the trail with fiberglass leaves after that one.

yeah i'm gonna have to agree with that .. i dont know if i'd want to skate across any kinda of harsh terrian with my fingers crossed for my fiber springs ... but teraflex is pretty knowledge company maybe they know something everybody else dont LoL but i agree i wouldnt be the patsy to try em hahaha good find though :D

I don't believe i'll trust anything that has glass in the name, thats like trusting something that bleeds for a week and dosen't die...
(Hope you all got that joke, no offense)

I bet they are super lightweight. They make some pretty tough fishing rods out of fiberglass.
Who knows, they may have figured something out. I need to see a long term review.

Its made for spring over and Unlimited Lifetime Warranty. Not a whole lot of mfg's make a SOA spring witha lifetime warranty on it.

Heck, if I got a free set, I wouldn't be afraid to try it. And if I did have questionable thoughts, I'd get a full length worn out (as to not stiffen the pack) steel spring for under the pack as a skid.

Teraflex seems to be pretty dead on,... if the warranty is solid, I'd try em. Worst case they are sending you new springs on a monthly basis,... I wonder if they are somekind of carbon fiber.... hmmmmmm intrigued

yea... but a warranty dont get ya out of a trail or get ya home... i'll wait till i hear others proclaim their virtue... like a new car or the YJ coil conversions... new is scarey, no matter the warranty.... just my $.02
