Hello there, i have been having some issues with my fuel gauge on my 78 cherokee chief. So gauge didnt work, found out circuit was shot, decided i should test the sending unit. I dropped the tank and tested it, now every hanes and chilton both tell me it should read 110 ohms full and 1 empty. so testing mine it read 16 ohms full and 74 empty. so figuring it was shot i ordered another and tested it. It read 76 full and 11 empty. So what im wondering is why are neither of the sending units not reading correctly. Now testing the both with the power bypassed to the gauge, they both made the gauge shoot past full like a rocket and very slowly fell. So i have no idea if either will be accurate.
