Currently with an engine that I feel is out of tune (timing and carb need to be set) I am getting almost 15 on the highway at 50-55mph. I have a AMC 360 with a stock 4 speed, I am geared at 4.10's front and rear with 33X12.5X15's. Hope this helps.
P.S. Steel where did you get the manifold for the four barrel? I have a 600 CFM I would like to put on but can't find the manifold???
Edelbrock. I'm currently using the performer intake and carburator but later on i'm thinking of swapping the intake with the airgap series.
Yea, but that'd be expensive. Might pay off in the long run though. I know you can tinker around and get your mileage numbers up. I've even got a video on how to make a hydrogen generator for less than $50 that may double your mileage [results may vary]. The thing is I've heard different stories over the years. I've heard that you could milk more gas mileage out of a good running well thought out six with electronic ignition. Then I've also heard that the small V8 will do better because it's not having much load on it at all being in a lightweight jeep body and frame. I know the newer jeeps get better mileage and they're pretty cool, but I've always had a thing for the older CJ's.No prob, You could probably be able to do better with injection, Jacobs Ignition. I am looking at A possible engine upgrade for mine, I just have not decided yet
I bet it feels strong with those gears and the 304. It's a good lookin' jeep I might add. I saw a 69 CJ-5 on cragslist the other day that had the V-6. I wonder if they do well on gas.1974 with a 304 four barrel. 33" tires 4:56 gears about 8 to 10 miles to the gallon 10 if it is mostly down hill... lol
