Getting 33's - need help with wheels!!!

OK, I have been gone from the board for several months due to the wife and I looking for a new house but thats over now, weve finally decided on one and were actually staying together :wink: Anyways, I have been saving for my 33's and I am almost have enough to purchase them.

My dilemma is this: I currently have (4) chrome 15x8 wheels with my 31's. I have seen a lot of jeeps with black wheels on them and they look pretty nice. So should I ditch the chrome and go for black?

What do you guys think? I just dont want to mount and balance twice if I decide to change later.

I bought a set of those in the 16x8 size. They've been sitting in the boxes for about 3 months. Still don't know which Jeep they're going on. Probably the XJ.

If you're going to stick to the beach, I guess the chrome would be allright (rather bright, though) and a lot cheaper (since you've already got 'em). But if you're planning on hittin' the trails, you'll be thankful for the black.

go black!! you can get the AR ones or US Steel ones too if you want different shape cut outs (as opposed to the circles)

black wheels looks soo good. I got a set crager wheels..pretty much same as above but fake beadlocks.

I would save some money, and use a little sand paper, some primer and a couple cans of

At $120/set, I'd buy 'em. Sell your chrome rims on ebay. Even if you get $40 for your old set, you're sitting pretty.

I can't see what the chrome ones look like.
Don't sand them, just hit them with Sherwin Williams 988 primer and then a coat of black. You can always touch up the black if it gets scratched. If you ever decide to go back to the chrome then all you have to do is spray some Aircraft Paint Remover or Easy Off on there and it will melt the paint right off.
BTW...If you are just itching for new wheels then get a set of those new Teflon Coated wheels.

Thanks guys!! I just ordered my Series 51 Rockcrawler black wheels, 5 for $220 shipped. I figure I can probably sell my chromes with the 31's on them easier together than seperately. A few more weeks and they should all be mounted up.
