Headliner Replacement for XJ

I just took the headliner fabric out of my XJ because it was drooping beyond repair.

Are there any tips and/or tricks on how to complete the project myself? What is the best adhesive to use and should I install a new piece of foam between the headliner board and the new fabric that I put on?

Thanks.

Any fabric shop should be able to supply you with headliner specific material. It is a very thin foam with material, together. It is not that expensive. Any 3M spray product should work. Just remove the old headliner, board and all, scrape off the old foam and material (not hard to do but very important to get it all). And just use the spray adhesive to glue on the new material.

Just did the same fix, a few months ago. Ripped it out, liked the metallic look, and put the extra mula toward fuel. Be careful putting it back in, they will break.

Just used asheet of luan plywood from home depot for eleven bucks vinyl from afabric shop a can of 3m spray glue rounded off the corners screws with trim washers into the roof ribs and tucked in the edges
