I will not be able to make the Arkansas ride.

JHiggins,

Thanks for the offer. We started at 5:00pm and finieshed up a midnight. My brother-in-law had a very difficult time getting the lash where he wanted it. We ended up at one point with the pinion so far back that it hit the ring gear. We eventually got it to an acceptable lash but not quite what Eddy wanted. We did get a good wear pattern with what Eddy called full contact (just for reference, I know nothing about setting up gears but Eddy does). I had to go back to the shop this morning and put another new pinion seal in it becuase we took the pinion gear out about fifteen times to adjust lash and eventually messed up the first new one we had. She is back on the road now and hopefully she will stay running good for a while. The only good news about the whole thing is that I know that I did nothing wrong to break the gears, but the differential was put together wrong by someone in the past. My brother-in-law kept saying "why is this put together like this?". Apparently the gears were not installed correctly. Even I, who know nothing about installing or setting up gears, knew something was wrong when one of the straps that hold in the carrier which is stamped with an "up" arrow was installed upside down. One question....is a non-Jeep welcome? I was telling my brother-in-law who has a toyota 4WD and he wanted to come.[addsig]

What's the verdict? Can my brother-in-law bring his Toy?[addsig]

Tell him to bring it and I am glad you got it
all set up and done...Lowe's parking lot @1300...
I will tell my Jeep to play nicely.... :-D :-D :-D [addsig]

Thanks Josh and Michael! I had a blast and learned a lot in the process. I was quite impressed with what my Jeep could do. On that one long deep mud hole I thought for sure that Josh would have to break out the Warn to get me out, but I made it through. Thanks again for taking me out there.[addsig]
