Help with 1987 YJ Transmission

I am new to this forum so I am not sure I am posting in the correct place. Please let me know if I am not and I will move it.

I am trying to replace the transmission for my 1987 YJ. I'm not a mechanic, but my understanding is that it's a 4L, 6 Cylinder. I've tried a few difference transmission shops locally and haven't had any luck finding parts or a replacement. Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

If it's an automatic, you have a tf999 transmission. And your engine is a 4.2 litre inline six. The 4.0 was later

You can use a transmission from a cj, also. They have the same as long as it's the same engine.

You can use the trans from the 91ish also even though they came with a 4.0 inline six. Maybe 92 and 93 too, but not for sure
