hesitation

Hi



I have a 99 Cherokee Sport, automatic transmission. About 1 in every 5 times I start it, it takes 2 or 3 attempts to get it to turn over. In addition, right after I start it and begin to accelerate I can feel some slight hesitation. This doesn't last past the first few seconds of operation and I can't seem to find any pattern as to when it will occur.

Anyone have any ideas?

If you haven't performed a tune up in a while this may be a good time to do so. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, the whole works. If that doesn't help, check the ignition coil. Is it missing through the whole RPM range or is it just hard to fire up 20% of the time?[addsig]
