How NOT to crack an exaust manifold

I am looking for suggestions from youz guys on how not to crack an exaust manifold.

To date I have cracked 2 exaust manifolds - as you all know they are not cheap.

I believe I cracked them while four wheeling. Most likely by driving thru water while the pipe was hot. Are covers available to prevent this? (silly question) or is there a special type of manifold that is not prone to this?

or is there another way to protect the manifold pipe, because the fact is I just cannot resist four wheeling and driving thru puddles.

Get a decent quality header(s). Better breathing and more durable.

Have the stock manifold professionally welded and annealed (sp) and it shouldn't crack again.
