Ignition ISSUES!!!

To start off, i tried to turn the key off and it went into the "LOCK" position without turning off... i had to turn it further and hold it untill it died. and it still didn't want to! the next morning it was completely dead. so i pushed it to my extremely steep hill to roll it off. NO FIRE! i was messing with my key switch and it only went so far forward, not all the way like it turned or shifted backwards inside there or something. so out of anger i tried to make it go back were it was and it "popped" into place so i thought. tried to roll it off again and no fire again! i checked my ignition coil and it was pretty rusty on one lead and other one was rusted in half.... so i replaced it.. guess what.... yea no fire again!!! changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and oil like 1000 miles ago. for my question: How do you take apart the key lock ignition on the column? and, Am i heading in the right direction of my solution? :???: any response would be GREATLY appreciated!
THANKS GUYS!

Before you venture in to dismantling the column, check the ignition switch first on the lower section of the column close to the brake pedal. The switch is attached to the tube of the column and is linked with a rod to the key tumbler to the upper section of the column. Make sure that the switch is in it's propper adjustment. It's likely that it's out of position and is causing the switch to go on accesory and draining your battery.

nice. thanks for the info!! i replaced the solenoid about a year ago or so and it went bad again..... so that was my cranking problem. and i looked into that and it did seem to have slipped a little. GREAT HELP! THANKS!
