I read on a few other forums about the 3.8 motor being an oil eater. Case in point. I drained my oil and instead of 6 quarts i got 3.5. There are no leaks and no sign of it burning. According to other sites it has to do with blocks from mexico. Anyone else having a similar problem?

Chryslers oil consumption spec is 1.0 l per 12 kms driven. That's for all vehicles. The jks do use a little more than most but the little 6 is workin pretty hard to get it up to speed. That's when a motor will use the most oil. The best engine builders in the world say to break an engine in hard. The rings seat from high load conditions. Im Always foot to the floor off the show room floor and have had gas engines with 450,000 kms and no oil usage.

I have a 08 and it's been a oil eater from day 1, it pings like crazy,and it's guttless.. Biggest pile of shit engine I've ever had. Not to mention it pops out of 3rd gear,the rear end is worn, the top leaks, the tailgate hinges are worn out,the cruise control stopped working,, the list goes on and it only has70,000mi on the clock...pretty capable off road but other than that the jk is a pile of shit, I mean really, who puts 3:21 gears in a jeep? The thing would do 150 mph if it had the power but you have to slip the hell out if the clutch just to get it off the line.. Chrysler has ruined a good vehicle in my opinion
