Key dance to read check engine codes

I know on other Chrysler products that there is a way to turn the key in the ignition when the check engine light comes on to read the codes it's throwing. Is there similar functionality on a 2001 Grand Cherokee?

Yes there is. Turn the key to the on and off position three times within 5 seconds and the codes will flash on the odometer. When doing this don't start the engine. Nothing bad will happen except the codes will not show. Hope this will help you.
