LED Taillight conversion

Well tonight I will finish my taillight conversion to oval LEDs. I've run into a couple of problems along the way. I got an EL 12 flasher to replace the stock one.Pre wired everything to make sure I had it right and everything was working. Everything checked out so I began the cutting and install. After getting the driverside buttoned up I tested it again. Checking the turn signal, brake, hazard and driving lights. Everything worked great exept the turn signal (and thumb that I nearly cut off with a fresh razor blade OUCH) but anyway. Will the turn signal not work becuase only one of the LED lights is hooked up and one stock? or did the flasher go bad?
I will post pic's tomorrow and an update.

Here is the relocated license plate with lights and Back-Up lights.

Well finished up last night. Flasher worked last night but then half way to work today stoped working. I'll pick up another EL 12 to see if it was a bad flasher. But here are some pics.

I'll cross that bridge when it comes. I figure I will just bend it up when wheeling and back down when done.

I had the same problem with my lights when I put the regular non LED flush mount round ones in, the right turn signal wouldnt work if the lights were on. Never figured it out. Now I don't really have brake lights, the body is so smashed that the hole isn't circular enough for them to fit in anymore :D

I like the look. Since you are using an electronic flasher (assuming that is what it is), it doesn't make much sense to me. The normal flashers detect the resistance and flash at different speeds according to the resistance from the lights. I know some LED systems don't allow for enough resistance for the stock flashers to work properly.

I got the LEDs off of eBay for $30 for a set of 4. I still have 2 more to put on a trailer when I get around to making it.

Flashers work now with the second electronic flasher I put in. The lights most not have enough resistance as Snitty said becuase with the store flasher the never would blink just stay on.

I found his site before starting and am using the el-12 flasher he said to use. It just took a couple of them till one worked. But that site is full of good info

When I did my conversion I ran into the problem of the signals not flashing. I've heard of so many people who think they need to special order a particular flasher. There's no need to order special flashers if you go to a good autoparts store. They can just cross reference your electrostatic flasher with one that's electronic. There's a few different brands that will work.
