Lift Questions

I have a 95 wrangler and currently I have a 2.5 inch leafs, nitro 9000 shocks and 3/4 inch shackles. I want to add on a 1 1/2 or 2 inch body lift, but not sure what else I need to buy besides a drop pitman arm. Please some one map out exactly what is needed when lifting above 3 inches. Thank you

A body lift only lifts the body off the frame, it doesn't effect steering or driveline components. You shouldn't need a drop pitman arm if you are doing a body lift and your steering isn't currently effected.

X2, SteelHeadz brought up a valid point. You start running into a lot of unseen problems when you go over 1". You have to start lengthing sticks on your transmission/tc etc.

X3; the longer the lift, the more stress you will be putting on your bolts, which can make it unsafe... 1" is the max would recommend.

Consider installing TJ fender flares if you want even more tire clearance after the 1" body lift. It will require cutting a little sheet metal around the wheel well but it's pretty simple and a clean install.

Ok so it looks like a 1" on the body is the limit, thank you. But just for a future reference what components are needed for bigger suspension lifts, or not necessarily needed but recommended for a better ride

With a 2.5" lift, you should not need anything else aside from the lift itself. Once you up to 4", then the pitman arm, longer brake lines (you can also reroute the stock lines and save some money up front, but the rear you will need - although the better lift systems include the brake line extensions already) and either a TC drop (included in the better kits) or a CV shaft and SYE for the rear (the recommended way to go, but not the cheapest). Other than that, you should be good to go.

Now, you may want to consider some additional things, like new shackles (boomerang for the rear, for example) and such, but it is not mandatory... I also advise to limit the amount of shackle lift, by the way.

That was going to be my next question. I currently have 3/4 shackles but wanted something just a little longer but have heard negative things about lift shackles. What is your take on it?

longer shackles lift only one side of the spring, so first of all, your pinion angle can change as a result, which can end up causing vibrations. Also, the stress factor.

Limit the length of the shackles, it'll screw up your pinion angles, your caster, and decrease steering response.
