M? T?

Ok so I'm putting my Jeep back together and I need parts, so I go to look them up on line. 1989 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 6cyl auto. And then the Parts sights ask me if its the M or T... How do I know and what does it mean?

Could it have something to do with the Vehicle Identification Number?
Look at the VIN and see if there is an M or a T in the VIN? If there is neither or both, then I guess that's not the answer.
I ordered a hub assembly for a 2004 Dodge 3500 and it asked for something similar in the VIN.
