Moab Spring Break

Its been awhile since my buddies and I have gone up to Moab for the Safari time. I've heard in recent years that you can't even camp there anymore with everything being closed down, or at least restricted to only a handful of campsites (not interested in KOA style campground). Anyone know if you can still camp in the area?

Or should we stay way south of Moab in the Canyonlands area for camping during Safari week?

There is still open camping a long Kane creek Road, before the two camp grounds at the southern end, and on the other side of the Colorado river (279)that is open. There are some primitive sites open just below Hurrah Pass in the open valley as well.
Also theres open camping along (128) east of Moab along the Colorado river.
But all of these open site fill up fast, and its first come first served.
