My 98 TJ has AC Problems

Hi Folks,
Got some AC problems. last Summer I noticed my AC compressor has been cylcing off after I drive for a few miles. Doesnt come back on until the motor is cool.. Anyway.. this summer I decided to turn the AC on again but to find out that the compressor is not even engaging at all. When it did work last season the air was cold.. but within 10min of driving the air would go hot... what should be my first steps for diagnosing? Thanks!

sounds like you have a plugged system filter and pressure is too high.
My 95 Trans Am did exactly that. I released a little pressure in the system and it started working for a little while.
I since took it to a shop and had it cleaned and recharged.
works great now.
push in on the shraeder valve and see if it still has freon in it.
If not fill it if so too much pressure or bad pressure switch could be the problem.
